Why Blogging

I've gotten a lot of questions about why I started The Half Finished House, which is something I really had to think about to convince myself to start writing. I've always enjoyed writing but the thought of putting it out there for the world to read, that was a little scary.

First off, I wanted a creative outlet. Now, if you know me, you're probably laughing because I'm constantly working on some sort of project. If I go more than a couple of weekends without working with my hands, I go stir crazy. And lets face it, I have a long list of half finished projects that need to get done... However, since Adam and I are working towards other financial goals right now, I don't always have the cash flow to get every project done in the next 12 months. No, its a process and I'm okay wth that. It's going to take a long time to get everything done. Even at that, I feel like a house is always changing, growing, evolving so by writing about it, it in a way supplements my need for a creative outlet. Plus I'm not as young as I once was so time sitting on the couch with a laptop sounds lovely.

Another thing is that we've recently had some changes in our household that resulted in us having slightly different schedules and some extra free time for just myself. I wanted an outlet to focus my energy on and blogging fits that need perfectly. I suppose I could have taken up yoga but seriously, who enjoys being in a quiet room filled with women wearing head to toe Luluemon who secretly are all judging each other. I digress, but you get my point, I needed a hobby...

But mostly, I'd love for the projects I tackle, the mistakes and successes, to inspire people out there to be creative with their own home. I'd love to give someone the confidence to march into Home Depot and have some lumber cut for a project. I'd love to be the inspiration for someone to try new things, see old things in a new light or step out of their comfort zone. If I can do that, then I'd call THFH a success.

So there you have, the reasons that brought me to start The Half Finished House and I'm so excited about it, who knows where this will take us together!

Revelation 14:7 He said in a loud voice, "Fear God and give Him glory, because the hour of His judgement has come. Worship Him who made the heavens, the earth, the seas and springs of water."
